Davyhulme Golf Club were challenged to a 3 leg Ryder Cup style match on Thursday 8th March and eagerly accepted. More details to follow and will be posted on the new Ryder Cup page within the Competitions Menu

A warm welcome to Paul who joined the Wednesday early birds. Congratulations also due for a fine attempt to sabotage the WhatsApp group within minutes of being added 🙂

Paul is looking to get his 3 handicap qualifying rounds in before the main comp season starts so hopefully between us we can make sure this happens, hopefully the winter greens will disappear soon so he can get these underway.

Another frosty morning which quickly turned into a belter brought out the first colourful shirts of the year. Congrats to Stan and Tim on their quite obviously pre-arranged Yellow shirt day.

Overall – Mike – 40 pts
Nearest the Pin : 3rd – Mike, 11th – Tim, 14th – Mike, 17th – we’ll gloss over this one (6 players – 130 yards – none on the green !)
Longest Drive – John, may have been Stan but he forgot to mark his effort (a schoolboy error)
Birdies : 6th – John, 11th – Mike, 15th – Mike

Stans excellent run of form continued this morning. It didn’t seem like the hottest February day ever as the 4 ball started in frosty conditions, but the temperatures soon rose, but unfortunately no one could live with Stans scorching golf.

Front 9, Back 9, overall, nearest the pin and a birdie meant a tidy windfall for Stan. Mike, 2 nearest the pins, Ron, a nearest the pin, and a monster longest drive from Steve ensured Stan didn’t achieve a clean sweep.

Expecting the same again on Wednesday I’ve been down to the cashpoint to ensure that I have sufficient funds to hand over.

Sorry for doubting you Skip. You were spot on when you pointed out that knockout round completion dates for the singles comp were actually the doubles round completion dates and vice versa for the doubles comp.

The draws for both the singles and doubles knockouts were made today and can be found on the knockout comps page.

Scoring for the Order Of Merit has been amended following a discussion on the subject in the clubhouse earlier

I’ve added a payment page to indicate comp fees already paid. Total is £20 (£5 for each of the 4 comps)

After complaints from John that his Singles Knockout win last season wasn’t mentioned I’ve added a page to honour last years competition winners.

At Tim’s request dates have been added to the rules pages of both the single and doubles knockout competition to state the dates when rounds must be completed by.

Singles :

1st Round – End of May
Semi-Final – End of July
Final – End of September

Doubles :

Semi-Final – End of July
Final – End of September

Both the singles and doubles knockout draws will take place on Wednesday 20th February in the clubhouse following the morning midweek game.
